The Fight For Life event in SA was held at the Lefevre Stadium in Osborn, a modern complex with all the amenities and was ideal for huge number of attendees.
20 presenters on the day with a wide variety of disciplines over 6 hours including iaido, escrima, nunchaku, bo, knife defence, 3rd party protection, hapkido, traditional karate, kudo, Koryu uchinadi, wing chun, jeet kwoon do, jujitsu, aikijujitsu, taijitsu, ringcraft clinching. 8 floor areas at a time for 6 x 45 minute mini workshops. Just over $2400 was donated to the cause.
These are a few photo's of the day, fantastic success and once again a great community of martial artists. Once again Kevin and his wife Leanne Walsh came over from Melbourne to be a part of the proceedings. A special thanks to Nigel Farrier of Martial Arts Education Centre for travelling all the way from WA to be there on the day. The main photographer on the day was Sean Heatley who has fought his own battle with cancer and wanted to be a part of this awesome event. Others to pass on their photo's was Brett Jefree and Max Bell. Thanks.
After the event many notices were placed on Facebook, but here is one that came to me from Tony Fletcher in Queensland, another martial artist. This is why we did it, it's more than just the money.
"Hi Kym, you are a legend and the people who gave their time in your legendary team are as well. I really wanted to be there but Beth had two massive reactions to the Yervoy trial treatment and I almost lost her last week.
Fortunately the people at the Emergency dept of the Princess A Hospital managed to work out the problem and thankfully were able to provide her the life saving treatment.
It's a mean SOB this melanoma and it tears me up to see her when she is in pain and struggling through it. I desperately want to help her and take the pain away but I can't.
She started another different trial on Friday and we just hope they find a cure for her and all the others.
I know I don't know the wonderful people that helped you and those that attended, but I do know you and ask if you would give my heartfelt thanks to them. It does help me in my heart and mind and hopefully one day, Beth and all the others.
Thank you mate"
